TOBY ELWES

Founder / Cinematographer

Over the last decade, Toby has been shooting projects of all sorts with a variety of aspiring directors and creatives. He quickly took off, garnering millions of views and MTV airtime by shooting several commercially successful music videos for artists such as Jakwob and Mr. Hudson.

His work spans narrative shorts screened at the BFI National Film Theatre in 2012, 2014 & 2017 to documentaries, experimental art films and animations. With a background in computer generated imagery, Toby has been able to successfully integrate new technologies into his discipline. In 2016, his film Touch won “Best Experimental Film” at Euroshorts Festival, and enjoyed national cinema screenings.

Toby’s writings on film, literature and theatre have fed his filmmaking. Alongside his cinematography, this shines through his creative editing. Most recently, he’s found acclaim for his edit of ‘Reoccurring’, a complex project combining the work of crews in London, Rome and Mexico City.

Toby has a single-minded dedication to his craft and has successfully forged enduring creative partnerships in the industry. His technical aptitude and teamwork has lead to work in feature film crews and the founding of Piano Factory Films with longtime collaborator Clemente Lohr.

CLEMENTE LOHR

Founder / Film Director

Clemente is an English/German director based in London. Having trained as an actor at one of the top drama schools in the UK, Clemente’s career has developed into a combination of directing and acting.

He found success through his work in theatre, getting critical acclaim for his role of Gerhard in the award winning show, “The Good Scout” by Glenn Chandler, with extended runs in both London and Edinburgh.

As a director, Clemente has focused his ambitions into film, directing a range of award winning short films and music videos. Recently, his multilingual concept central to our 2019 film, “Reoccurring”, was praised for its unique approach in combining the work of three intentional crews into a single piece.

Clemente’s drive to collaborate with other creatives - from actors, artists, musicians and more - has been the foundation of his successes.

SPENCER JOHNSTON

Managing Director

With a background in business development, talent management, PR and journalism, Spencer has worked alongside an array of different key players within the film industry. Having worked as a representative for Bafta-winning actors and an Academy Award-nominated Producer, as well as on PR campaigns for a plethora of different award-winning feature films for some of the UK’s biggest production agencies, Spencer possesses a unique understanding of the inner-workings of the contemporary film landscape.

As a talent manager and publicist at his agency, Spencer has climbed the ladder over the past two years to become Head of New Business; he also acts as an Account

Executive across a variety of the company’s clients, for whom he has secured a variety of sponsorships for, as well as coverage across some of the UK’s leading broadsheet and lifestyle publications. Spencer also has an extensive background in the world of brands, following a stint in the creative team at Freuds, where he worked on campaigns for the likes of O2, Robinsons and Penguin Books.
